San Francisco March for the Elephants and Rhinos

I was lucky enough to be a part of the amazing activist March in San Francisco to bring awareness to the senseless killing of elephants for their ivory and rhinos for their horns. The Global March for Elephants and Rhinos #GMFER was held in cities around the world on October 4th and 5th.

We marched from Jefferson Square, past the Chinese Consulate where there were several speakers, music and a moment of silence.
We marched down Geary and all the way down Van Ness Avenue to the Civic Center Plaza.
It was an amazing experience to be a part of and hopefully we brought awareness to more people.

One Elephant is Killed Every 15 Minutes.
100,000 Elephants Poached in Past 3 Years.

I am proud that California recently passed a bill that will make it illegal to sell virtually any kind of elephant ivory or rhino horn in this state!

And the amazing work being done at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust where they take in and raise elephant orphans left behind after their mothers are butchered for ivory.
