North Shore!
We love North Shore! It is a different world there and a place where we are totally comfortable and relaxed...
It was a beautiful day at Turtle Bay....the water was so still! In the winter, waves here can reach 40'...
We walked the beach, found lots of shells and a bit of seaglass too....
A Hawaiian Monk Seal had given birth in the area about a month ago...volunteers have been keeping an eye on them. The baby, named "Malie Ua" (calm rain), was nursing the whole time we were there. She will only be with mom, Honey Girl, another 15 days or so....it was such a wonderful thing to see...!
We stopped on the way home at another beach where the turtles hang out....lots of them were in the water feeding on the algae...and suddenly this one, named "Nalukai" (one who has endured the storms of life) started hauling up on the beach for a nap. He is apparently about 40 years old, and over 165 pounds....and has a bite out of his back flipper from a tiger shark!
